Temporary Things In The Bible

There are some things in the bible that God never intended to be lasting. A failure to realize these facts has regretfully caused division.

THE LAW OF MOSES was never intended to be permanent. Paul used marriage to illustrate our relationship to the Law of Christ and the Law of Moses (Romans 7:1-4). To be bound to both is spiritual adultery. Yet, when a mate dies (the Mosaical Law) we are free to be joined to another (the Law of Christ). Jesus fulfilled the Old Law of Moses (Matthew 5:17; Galatians 3:16-25) when he was crucified at Calvary, nailing the Old Law to the cross and establishing the New Covenant with His blood (Colossians 2:14, Hebrews 10:9,10).

SPIRITUAL GIFTS were temporary, and have been removed (1 Corinthians 13:8-10). Only an apostle could bestow spiritual gifts (Acts 8:14-17). Since we have no living apostles among us today, we must logically conclude, gifts no longer are given. The purpose of these signs and wonders were to confirm the message of God (Mark 16:15-20) until the revelation was complete (1 Corinthians 13:8-10). This has been done. We now have the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25; Jude 3). Everything we need to convince us of God's power and deity is found within the pages of the New Testament (John 20:24-29, 30-31).

THE REIGN OF CHRIST is not intended to be forever. Jesus Christ is reigning today and will continue to reign upon the right hand of God until the end of time (Acts 2:22-36). "...He shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be abolished is death" (1 Corinthians 15:24-27). There is absolutely no truth (Bible) to the idea that Christ will set foot on this earth again and reign for 1000 years (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:17). The doctrine of premillennialism is 100% pure fiction. When Christ comes again He will end His reign, not begin it!

THE EARTH is also temporary. Peter writes it will be consumed with fire at the Lord's return (2 Peter 3:10). The hope of God's people is laid up in heaven, not on this old earth (Colossians 3:1-3; 1 Peter 1:3,4).
