Moral Decay
"Righteousness exalteth a nation; But sin is a reproach to any people" (Proverbs 14:34). In recent years we have witnessed a decline in the morals of our society. Our generation has become the bedfellow of sin because of "Political correctness". Being intolerant of sin does not make one un-American, narrow-minded or bigoted. Intolerance toward sin is characteristic of the follower of God.
The people of this great nation, and even of the world, need to wake up to the realization of sin. We are guilty of sin whenever we violate the law of God. There are many commonplace practices of our present society which are contrary to God's Word.
Not only are the people involved in sin, but a good number of our leaders guide and legislate with sinful hearts and attitudes. They lead us to spiritual ruin with "lawful" compromises and permission to live in adulterous and abominable relationships, abort our unwanted children, and squander our resources through gambling. All of these sins are offered up to us on a "silver platter" under "the cloak of freedom". Paul wrote "...Use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants..." (Galatians 5:13). We are free in Christ to live for Christ! (John 8:31-36).
Sin is serious business. All men have sinned (Romans 3:23), and the consequences of sin is spiritual death (Romans 6:23) and eternal separation from God (Isaiah 59:1,2; 2 Thessalonians 1:9). It appears as if too many people of our day have made the choice to satisfy the appetites of their flesh and merciful God, who sent His only begotten Son to save us from sin. The salvation will only occur when we submit to His commandments and fulfill His righteousness. Please understand, unless the sinful repent and turn away from the present moral decay they will all perish eternally (Luke 13:3; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21). Sins must be removed through the powerful blood of Jesus (Galatians 3:26, 27; Romans 6:3,4; Acts 2:38; 22:16). Let's be wise and make the right choice to follow after God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
