Was Jesus Too Tired To Die?
We should be grateful that Jesus, the Christ and Savior, was not like many of us. Jesus was not too tired to die on the cross for our sins. Nor did Jesus delay His horrendous death to catch up on his backlog of carpentry work. He did not refuse to do His father's will because of a headache. Jesus was dependable!
Even at the early age of twelve, He recognized the importance of God's business, as opposed to playing in the synagogue yard with the other Jewish children (Luke 2:46 -- Maybe it's not so sbsurd to think that our twelve year olds ought to be seriously involved in God's work.) Never once did Jesus excuse himself or neglect the great work before him. When tempted of Satan, Jesus didn't whine about being hot, tired, sore or hungry. He stood up in the midst of physical pains and battled His adversary! (Matthew 4:1-11) When rejected by His own nation, Jesus did not quit. No, he turned and offered salvation to others. When mocked and scourged, Jesus did not complain or murmur. Instead, He lovingly endured the mistreatment, anguish and tremendous pain so OUR sins could be forgiven. No, Jesus was not so tired that He refused to die for US!
We must not allow trivial circumstances to interfere with our work and worship of the Lord. Soft and selfish behavior is shameful. We must never allow Jesus and our brethren to carry on in our absence. Let's be dependable, as He was dependable! Our little aches and pains; our work and recreation must never become more important than God. Aren't you glad Jesus didn't think in the same manner as many do today? Certainly, we can endure the slight aches and pains of this present world to enjoy the better world which is to come (James 5:11).
