Investigation
Truth has nothing to fear, and is never afraid of investigation. Yet a common blunder among people is a failure to investigate their faith and doctrine. We need to "look before we leap".
People often accept what others say in religious matters without ever investigating what the New Testament teaches. They fail to ask "what has Christ revealed" concerning this subject? Some prominent preacher says, "Only believe in Jesus and you will be saved". Thousands promptly accept his word without any examination whatsoever. If they would search the Scriptures they would have found that salvation is "not by faith only". (James 2:24)>
Investigation is not necessarily an indication of distrust, but rather it is a spirit of wanting to be sure. I urge you to investigate the church you belong to or one you may contemplate entering. The New Testament emphasizes only "One Body," and on that fact we must be unified (Ephesians 4:4).
REASONS WHY THE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS WORTH INVESTIGATING
- You read about it in the Bible Romans 16:16
- It has no creed but the Bible. It binds no name on its memebers but Christ. Acts 11:26; 1 Peter 4:16
- It speaks where the Bible speaks, and is silent where the Bible is silent. 1 Peter 4:11
- It exalts Christ as the only head of the church. Colossians 1:18
- Its worship is patterned after the New Testament. John 4:23,24; Acts 2:42; 20:7; Colossians 3:26; 1 Corinthians 16:2
- It teaches that scriptural unity can be attained on ALL disputed doctrinal questions. 1 Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:4-6
- The church of Christ pleads for the unity of all believers in Christ. John 17:20-23; Ephesians 4:4-6
